biography

goujirou (mert oezdemir) is an interdisciplinary artist working across sculpture, installation, performance, fashion and writing. he studies fine arts at Städelschule, Frankfurt am Main, and completed a BA in Fashion & Technology at Kunstuniversität Linz in 2026. his practice develops through material behaviour, spatial instruction, duration and what remains after an action.

an enlarged garment pattern can occupy a room without becoming a garment. hair, once removed from the body, is asked to hold the form of a sink. a seal remains a device of pressure even when nothing is being secured.

these materials are not illustrations of a single argument. their capacities and refusals change the situation in which they appear. site, duration and body are implicated, but none is granted automatic priority. what is shown may be a trace of an action, an object still holding a task, or a structure whose original function has slipped.
